We are all aware that sugary foods and simple carbohydrates contribute to tooth decay, but there are some foods that are good for your teeth and can help you keep you smiling.

Cheese
Cheese can help keep your mouth healthy because it contains important nutrients, calcium and protein that strengthen tooth enamel. Eating cheese raises the pH in your mouth, which can help lower your risk of tooth decay.

Yogurt
Another food that can be high in calcium and protein is yogurt. Yogurt may also be a great source for good bacteria that can give bad bacteria less room to form on your teeth. Make sure to choose a plain variety with no added sugar.

Kale and Spinach
Kale and spinach could be another good source of calcium for strengthening tooth enamel. Folic acid is a type of B vitamin that is found in leafy greens and can help promote good oral health.

Fibrous Fruits and Vegetables
The act of chewing fibrous fruits and vegetables can increase the saliva in your mouth that can help wash away bacteria. The fibrous texture of apples can also help clean your teeth and stimulate your gums. Carrots are a good source of vitamin A, and they also stimulate your gums and increase saliva. Celery contains both vitamins A and C and has the same benefits as apples and carrots for helping to clean your teeth.

Always be sure to get your regular dental cleanings and checkups, brush at least twice a day and floss regularly to maintain good oral health. But eating foods that are healthy for your teeth can be helpful as well.
